I was so excited when my package from Monkey Apparels finally arrived. Been waiting for these awesome tees for awhile. I heard about Monkey Apparels from my brother, Budi Eka, several months ago. He's been very passionate explaining everything about this tee line he and his fellows started.

Finally, our Monkey Apparels have arrived! ^_^
At first, I was a bit worried. I mean, how many tee line out there online? Thousands! Maybe more. Is it gonna be worth it to start a new one? What difference does it offer? That question was my first and main question that I asked.

He told me many facts about Monkey Apparels. Turned out, it did captured my attention. And when the product was in my hand, I had no doubt at all. Yes, it is different. And special. And one of a kind.

What is Monkey Apparels? And how it started?

This I copied from MA's website:

It all started in 2012, when founder Hafiz Hadi from Kuala Lumpur decided to start a clothing line.
The idea behind Monkey Apparels was to bring fresh new design to the market. The designs are mostly original ideas and at times, following a certain theme such as Star Wars or Shakespeare. As it was quite challenging to run a lucrative idea alone, two of Hafiz's friends, Boi Amani Hashim and Akmal Dahlan, came on board to introduce new ideas and to help penetrate the graphic tee market to a whole new level. Shortly after that the two friends departed from Monkey Apparels to pursue their dreams in another line of work. Due to this, Monkey Apparels took a brief break in 2013 and took things at a more comfortable pace.
In October 2013, Budi Eka Fitri from Indonesia contacted Hafiz to collaborate and to revive Monkey Apparels. Not that it was dead, it was very much moving at a slow pace. Hafiz appeared to be quite reluctant in accepting the offer. However, after a lot of discussion, both parties came to an agreement and this is what we know today as the new Monkey Apparels team.
Both parties combined their hard work, dedication, ideas and designs, and started to search for a new talent across Asia. In January 2014, they selected a young guy from Indonesia as the head designer consisting of 7 team members, from Indonesia & Philippines. Monkey Apparels now cater customers not only from South East Asia, but expanding each day through out the region.

I'm a believer of hard work is the key to success. I've witnessed myself how hard my brother and his colleagues struggled to make this MA happened. And what is more interesting and heart warming sight than seeing people from different regions working together to make something special? They put aside all the differences and started to unite to become successful. I, myself, couldn't be more proud to see that.

What's so special about MA?

First of all, it's a tee line. What is the first thing you see when you decided to purchase one? Design? Quality of the fabric? The price? Or else? And what else do you get beside the tee? I'll answer those questions one by one.

- MA's designs

As you read from the "about" of MA, there is a team of 7 designers to work on MA's design. Seven! They do this section very seriously. And it appears on the products. Take a look on their designs here. They have two sub-line: Monkey Apparels (tees for male) and Marmoset (tees for female). Both have different cutting and different printed designs.

Pretty cool design for horror movie's freak like him. :D

And from what I heard, they are offering new designs every periodic of time. That explains why they use this line as their tagline:

MA only for those who LOUD, UNIQUE and ONE OF A KIND of person.
It is You
Bring out the You in you
Wear MA
Show the world who you really are

When you surf the web, you'll find a brief explanation about each design. For instance, this particular design below was explained as:

Barongan
Barongan is a traditional Indonesian Reog dance, also performed by Indonesian in Malaysia, we combined both character of Barongan and Monkey to merge as one.

Or this design of Marmoset's Hummingbird:

Hummingbird
They are among the smallest of birds, most species measuring in the 7.5–13 cm (3–5 in) range. With a new splash of color, it turns out to be awesome!

The geographic division between Malayan and Indochinese tigers is unclear as tiger populations in northern Malaysia are contiguous with those in southern Thailand. - See more at: http://www.monkeyapparels.net/collections/monkeyapparels#sthash.dgMyIU2N.dpuf
- Quality of the fabric

They claim that MA's using 100% pure cotton. Well, I've seen many tees who claimed the same, but when I saw and touched and felt in person, I disappointed. It's not happening when I finally got my MA and Marmoset tees. The fabric is so soft. When I'm wearing it, it's so cool (literally!). And I feel like I don't want to take it off. Even in a hot weather. It gave a soothing feeling just by touching the softness of the fabrics. Now, that's what I call 100% pure cotton. They really mean it.

The fabric is so soft and cool, and I feel "hot" without feeling HOT wearing it. Did you get it? :)))

-"Or else" means added values

Yep! I was even more exciting to find out that the label tag was made from leather. And I can use it as a key chain or hang accessory for my bag. Believe me, it looks pretty cool on my handbag. And they pack the tee inside a zip lock plastic. I was so thrilled, because I can use them for many purposes. There's no wasted paper from the label tag and re-used plastic from the pack. I can use the zip lock plastic to keep my stationary. How cool is that?

 - "How much" is the question

I know, it's a relative question. One can think something is over priced when the other doesn't even mind to spend more. But I do believe that price should come along with the quality. And when it does, it's worth the price we pay. With US$ 23, and all those I explained above, I'd say it's a fair and good deal.

How to purchase?

MA's tees are sold online. Just go to website and register. Don' t forget to like their fan page on Facebook and follow their Twitter at @m0nkeyapparels to see the upcoming new designs.

I'm wearing my MA's tee and I'm feeling special! And you, my friends, do you dare to wear MA?
